Sports Chiropractic is a type of chiropractic for athletes and active individuals but does not exclude the general population. It involves the optimisation of movement and performance and prevention of injuries through tailoring care for the individual.
Sports Chiropractors have undergone further study in fields that are highly relevant to athletes such as soft tissue techniques, electro-therapies, injury prevention, rehabilitation, nutritional advice, strapping and taping techniques just to name a few.
When it comes to sports injury, sports chiropractors are required to manage the patient in a multi-disciplinary team care arrangement which ensures that the individual is getting the best care and results possible.
Physiotherapy holds many similarities with Chiropractic treatment principles, with a strong focus on the interaction between bones, muscles and other soft tissues within specific areas of the body. When clients present with a painful injury, traditional physiotherapy will aim to reduce pain symptoms and restore movement quality in the injured area.
Our goal at Functional Health & Performance is to understand why you are experiencing pain and to determine if other joint movement patterns are affecting the injury site. This becomes even more important in chronic injuries as compensatory patterns become more apparent.
With extra large treatment rooms and an even bigger gym space, there are plenty of Physiotherapy treatment and rehab options available to help you overcome that niggling injury!
Our massage therapists work alongside our team of physio, chiro and exercise physiologists. We believe that this team approach gets the best results for our patients. This way we can relieve your aches and pains and ensure that we form a plan to prevent them from coming back.
Our remedial massage therapists are all registered with the major health funds in Australia.

Active Release Technique
Active Release Technique or ART is considered by many to be the Gold Standard in Soft Tissue treatment. ART is a gentle yet effective way of treating tissues that may have undergone trauma and or repetitive injury. Often ART results in greater range of movement, less pain and improved function of the tissues involved.
Active Release Technique is a perfect combination of stretching and massage. Anyone can benefit for ART, particularly office workers and sports people. As the technique is safe and gentle even children will benefit fit from it.
